The hamlet
Ecotura is a small cluster of traditional stone houses in João Alvo, set in the Laboreiro river valley. The hamlet becomes your base for the week — no changing hotels, no daily packing.
The houses preserve their original character, with simple comfort and warm shared spaces. Step outside and you are immediately in nature: oak forest, granite hills, open sky.
Life here follows the landscape. Mornings begin quietly, days unfold outdoors, and evenings return to stillness — the kind that allows deep rest.
The house and shared spaces
The houses are warm and characterful — restored with care, and filled with unique details. You’ll find hand-made wooden furniture, original stone, and a calm mix of textures that feels personal rather than overly styled.
Shared spaces are made for slow mornings and quiet evenings: a place to read, talk, stretch, or simply sit after time outdoors. Everything supports the week’s rhythm — comfort, ease, and a sense of home in the mountains.
- Hand-made wooden furniture

The Yoga Space
The studio is a quiet wooden space overlooking the mountains, with wide windows that bring the forest and changing light inside. The warmth of the timber and the stillness of the room create an atmosphere that invites you to slow down the moment you step in.
Morning practice begins gently as daylight fills the space. In the evening, the room turns inward — softer, quieter — supporting recovery after time outdoors and allowing the body to fully rest.
Nature around
Located in Peneda-Gerês National Park — the only national park in Portugal — Ecotura offers retreats immersed in one of Europe’s last truly wild mountain landscapes.
The landscape shapes the rhythm of the week. Forest, stone, water, and open sky — each day unfolds in close connection with the terrain. Step outside, and you are already immersed in it.
Oak forest trails
Quiet paths through native woodland, where the air feels cooler and the pace slows naturally.
Granite plateaus
Wide open landscapes shaped by stone and wind, with wild horses often grazing nearby.
River and natural pools
Clear mountain water for refreshing swims and slow afternoons by the river.
Changing seasons
Spring greens, summer light, and autumn colour. The landscape is always shifting around you.
